Methow Valley Backyard Wedding | Jon & Kasey

bride and groom kissing along the river in twisp, washington

This year has been the year of absolutely amazing clients. As my business evolves and I can hone in on the direction I want to take, I find myself working with more and more couples who seem like “my people”. Jon and Kasey, two outdoor enthusiasts, are friends of a couple who I photographed last year. I frequently see the four of them posting on Instagram about the peaks they are climbing together and other adventures in the mountains. Every time I see this, it makes me smile and I only wish my summer weekends would let me come along with them! Jon and Kasey met while attending Western Washington University in Bellingham. Kasey now works as a nurse and Jon as a teacher. You can tell these two are just some of the kindest people upon meeting them. Their wedding was held at a private property in the tiny town of Twisp, Washington. Twisp is located in the beautiful Methow Valley, near the little town of Winthrop. They made a weekend of it, inviting guests to camp on-site, float the river, and hike the trails in the area. Instead of toasting champagne, the couple wheeled around a wheelbarrow full of Rainier beer, handing each guest a beer wrapped in a personalized koozie to commemorate their wedding day. After they said their vows, they enjoyed a delicious taco bar dinner, cut their beautiful mountain-themed wedding cake, then the dance party ensued. My favorite part was when everybody started passing around a box of goofy hats. It definitely created a lot of fun entertainment and lots of laughs! The entire group danced in the grass under the starry skies – the kind of stars you can only see on the darkest of nights in a town with little light. This was one of my favorite weddings of the summer and truly a weekend to remember!
