Autumn in Olympic National Park has a kind of magic to it — crisp mountain air, hillsides brushed with fall color, and the quiet that settles in once summer crowds fade away. Cassandra and Dustin traveled from the Midwest to celebrate their wedding surrounded by everything that makes this place so special. Their day unfolded like a true Olympic National Park adventure, beginning with a cozy cabin morning near Hurricane Ridge, followed by private vows in the mountains, a forest ceremony at Lake Crescent, and ending with a glowing pink sunset along the coast. Like many fall days here, the weather kept us on our toes bringing rain, dramatic sunbeams, and even a rainbow before the day was done.

A Cozy Cabin Morning along Hurricane Ridge Road
The morning began at a cabin tucked along the base of Hurricane Ridge Road, where Cassandra and Dustin spent a relaxed morning getting ready with their closest people. As a special touch, Dustin cooked breakfast sandwiches for everyone, filling the cabin with the kind of warmth and laughter that makes small weddings feel so personal. It was one of those slow, meaningful mornings where everyone had time to settle in, sip coffee, and soak in the excitement of the day ahead. When everyone was ready, we piled into cars and began the winding drive up into the mountains.
Private Vows at Hurricane Ridge
October is one of the most underrated times to visit Hurricane Ridge. The summer crowds have thinned, the air is crisp, and the alpine landscape begins to shift toward fall. While we did have to dodge some fog and cloud patches, we finally found the perfect spot surrounded by autumn color for Cassandra and Dustin to share their vows privately. Moments like this are one of my favorite parts of an elopement day. Taking time for something just for the two of you allows the day to slow down and feel incredibly intentional. On the way down the road we stopped along a nearby trail to continue exploring the magic of the forest.
A Forest Ceremony at Lake Crescent
Later in the afternoon we made our way down the mountain to Lake Crescent, where their guests gathered for the ceremony. After the ceremony, we wandered the nearby forest trail and then waited out a small rain squall before making our way out to the lake. Sunlight streamed across the lake and a rainbow appeared overhead as they soaked in the magic of the scenery all around them. It was one of those fleeting moments that feels almost too perfect to plan.
Sunset on the Coast
To end the day, we headed out to the coast for sunset at Salt Creek Beach. By evening the skies had cleared a bit, and the sunset began painting the entire horizon shades of pink and gold. Cassandra and Dustin wandered across the rocky shoreline, soaking in those last quiet moments together as the light faded. It was the perfect way to end a day that had taken them from mountains to forests to the sea.
Celebrating back at the Cabin
After sunset we returned to the cabin where dinner and cake were waiting. The evening wrapped up with a catered meal shared around the table, stories from the day, and the kind of relaxed celebration that makes small weddings feel so special. No rushing, no strict timelines. Just a full day spent exploring some of the most beautiful places in Olympic National Park with the people who matter most.
Why I Love Multi-Location Elopement Days
One of the incredible things about getting married in Olympic National Park is how much variety exists within such a short distance. In a single day Cassandra and Dustin experienced:
- Alpine mountain views at Hurricane Ridge
- Mossy rainforest landscapes at Lake Crescent
- Rugged coastal beauty at Salt Creek Beach
It’s something I help couples plan often. Together we build a timeline that moves naturally between different landscapes so the day feels like an adventure instead of a single event or all-day photo shoot.
If you’re dreaming of an elopement in Olympic National Park and want help crafting a day that explores the mountains, forests, and coastline, I’d love to help you plan it.
