With its serene lakes, breathtaking mountain peaks, and endless natural beauty, it’s no wonder that this park has become a top destination for elopements. In this post, we’ll guide you through the top five most romantic elopement locations in Olympic National Park that provide the perfect backdrop for your special day.

SPECIAL NOTES: You may need a wedding permit. This only applies if you have over a certain number of guests, so be sure to email or call the park directly for current requirements. You can find more information about wedding permits for Olympic National Park HERE. Many locations within the park require a park pass which you can purchase at any entrance station or order a full pass if you plan on exploring more parks. Good for one year! And now for the best elopement locations in Olympic National Park:

Hurricane Ridge

Nestled amidst the rugged mountains of Olympic National Park, Hurricane Ridge is a prime elopement location that should not be overlooked. Known for its sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains, this spot is perfect for couples looking for a stunning backdrop to exchange their vows. With its lush wildflower meadows and snow-capped peaks, Hurricane Ridge is an outdoor-lover’s dream come true. As you and your partner say your “I do’s”, you’ll be surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Pacific Northwest.

BONUS: Take a hike on the Hurricane Hill trail (3.2 miles roundtrip) for 360 degree views of the Olympic Mountains all the way down to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island.

Tips for eloping at Hurricane Ridge:

The best time of year to elope at Hurricane Ridge is late June – September. At this time, most of the snow will be melted and will give you more areas to explore. That being said, winter is also a magical time of year at Hurricane Ridge so don’t toss it out if you’re a snow lover! The best time for wildflowers is late July through early August. (Bring your bug spray!) Never walk off of the trail. The fields at Hurricane Ridge are filled with wildflowers in July and August, which will get destroyed if they get trampled on. Do not feed or pet the wildlife. If you plan on getting married in the winter at Hurricane Ridge, you will be required to have chains in your vehicle, regardless of whether your car has 4WD or AWD. Check on current requirements HERE.

A bride and groom kiss while standing on a trail in a rainforest along the Washington coast

The Hoh Rainforest

The Hoh Rainforest is one of the most spectacular and magical spots in the entire park. The forest is home to some of the tallest trees in the world and is filled with lush foliage and serene streams. The Hoh Rainforest is a perfect spot for couples looking for a peaceful and secluded location to exchange their vows. You can take a leisurely stroll along the Hall of Mosses trail (.8 miles roundtrip) or hike deeper into the forest on the Spruce Nature Trail (1.2 miles roundtrip). You’ll be surrounded by vibrant greenery and the calming sound of the nearby stream, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Tips for eloping in the Hoh Rainforest

This place can get very crowded in the summer. Plan to arrive early in the morning (or late in the evening) on a weekday or during a less-crowded month. The great thing about the rainforest is that it’s accessible even in the middle of winter. This past year I went in January and while cold, we had no crowds and the place to ourselves! As its name presumes, it rains a lot here. Be sure to pack rain gear and plenty of layers to keep you warm when visiting the Hoh Rainforest. This applies to most locations, but always stay on the trail. The forest floor is a fragile ecosystem, so it’s important to avoid walking through areas that do not have a designated place to walk.

A groom says his vows to his bride while standing on a dock on Lake Crescent in Washington

Lake Crescent

One of the most picturesque locations in Olympic National Park, Lake Crescent offers a dreamy backdrop for your elopement ceremony. With stunning turquoise waters and lush green forests surrounding it, the lake is a perfect spot for couples who love nature and seclusion. You can exchange your vows with the serene lake in the background, or take a nearby hike to explore the hidden corners of this magical place. The nearby historic Lake Crescent Lodge can provide you with all the necessary arrangements, from a cozy cabin to delicious lakeside dining.

BONUS: Hike the Marymere Falls trail (1.7 miles roundtrip) and take photos amongst the mossy trees and waterfall at the end! Also check out the Spruce Railroad Trail on the opposite side of the lake and reach a bridge over turquoise Devil’s Punchbowl.

Tips for eloping at Lake Crescent

Summer is crowded at Lake Crescent but there are a number of spots along the shore that give some privacy away from the crowds. Plan your elopement for sunrise or sunset for the most privacy. Add an activity to your elopement day and bring along a canoe or kayak for some super unique elopement photos. Bring along plenty of bug spray as this place can be a haven for mosquitoes in the summer.

Lake Crescent is gorgeous at any time of year! Here’s a winter elopement at Lake Crescent to get your inspiration flowing.

This wide open sandy beach has beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, along with an opportunity to see the famous Tree of Life. This beach is large so you can still find secluded locations even if it’s crowded. Kalaloch also has a lodge with a restaurant, campground, and super cute cabins on the bluffs – the perfect place to stay for your beach elopement!

BONUS: Add on a quick hike along the Kalaloch Creek Nature Trail (.8 miles roundtrip) to walk through a towering old growth forest. Check the creek for river otters!

Tips for eloping at Kalaloch Beach

As with any beach on the coast, check the tides! The Northwest can have some pretty large tidal swings so you’ll always want to check this before venturing on any beach hike.
