If you’ve ever considered a moody winter wedding near the lake, get ready for some epic inspiration with Nyika and Omar’s Lake Crescent elopement. While the forecast called for rain all week, we were greeted with a perfectly glassy Lake Crescent on a chilly winter day. Read on to hear more about this awesome couple and their stunning elopement day.
Meet Nyika & Omar, the stars of this Lake Crescent Elopement
Nyika and Omar live in Seattle and met through work. After getting engaged, they knew they wanted an intimate wedding in the wilderness with just thew two of them. While family is important to them, they have a large family and knew that it would get big really quickly. They decided that an elopement in Olympic National Park with just the two of them was truest to who they were as a couple.
Nyika & Omar’s Stunning Lake Crescent Elopement
As we began planning, we had several ideas of heading into the mountains or out to the beaches near Olympic National Park. They eventually found the cutest AirBnb on Lake Sutherland which would be our home base for the day. We thought that if we ran into bad weather, the cabin would have a lot of photo opportunities to keep us drive. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have options for both good and bad weather!
We kicked off the day at the AirBnb, where Nyika and Omar got ready in separate parts of the house. They had their first look with each other out on the dock in front of the cabin. We headed back inside where they packed up their things, make some PB&Js to take for snacking, and headed out to their ceremony location.
We arrived at Lake Crescent to an incredible scene. Moody clouds hung low, reflecting on a perfectly glassy lake. I couldn’t believe that there wasn’t an ounce of wind or crazy weather! They strolled out to the end of the dock and set up Nyika’s flowers. Mountains surrounded them with clouds drifting in an out as they said vows. Rain drops softly dotted the lake as they shared their first kiss. Their ceremony was beautiful, intimate, and exactly how they hoped it would be!
After the ceremony, we walked to another part of the beach for a champagne toast. We hung out by the creek for a bit while they shared bubbly and enjoyed the beautiful scene before us. After some photos there, we headed over to a private property on the Elwha River, offered to us by the florists’s sister. She had generously set up a sweet table complete with vintage tableware and a bottle of wine. Nyika and Omar snapped photos of each other with their polaroid and hopped around on the rocks near the river. After that, they headed back to their AirBnb for a cozy evening of making their favorite dinner together. It was an absolutely perfect elopement day!
